You wouldn't have to necessarily read Deep End Of The Ocean to read this sequel. This story takes place about 20 years after where Deep End left off. In the book, Vincent has made a documentary movie about families who have had a child kidnapped. One of those fathers who was in the documentary ends up kidnapping the baby of Vincent's brother, Ben.
